Gift Card Tutorial

Ok, making a tutorial is a lot harder than I originally thought! My stinkin camera has issues taking pictures inside so I'm still trying to figure out lighting and all that fun stuff so forgive the cruddy picture quality!

Start with 1 piece of cardstock cut to 4 1/4 x 11".

Score at 3", 5 1/2" and 8" and fold like this:

Next:

Next, push the two inside pieces together:

Then cut about 1/4" in from each side and 1/4" down (sorry that doesn't sound right but you can see the picture) to make the opening for the gift card to fit in the pocket:

Now, to decorate the holder you can do whatever you want. With mine I cut the bottom piece of cardstock to 4 1/4" x 2 3/4", the middle piece of cardstock was cut to 3 3/4" x 2 1/2" and the top, decorative paper was cut to 3 1/2" x 2 1/4". I layered them on top of each other after putting a strip of ribbon around the outside (about a 12" strip of ribbon) so that it could be tied to close it.

Hopefully that was descriptive enough. It's quick and easy to make. Any questions, feel free to ask!!! Happy Crafting Everyone!

  5. Thanks for posting the instructions. I really like how your holder looks, best one I've seen so far! I'm going to use it to make a home for Tim Hortons gift cards for my daughter's preschool teachers.
